Blood on the Sands tells the tale of three different bearers of the Top Cow Universes Trinity. I have always been a fan of the high fantasy genre and jumped at the chance to show a new side of the Top Cow Universe against a historical backdrop. The stories center around some of the unique customs and locales of the Arabian desert, explained writer Philip W. Smith II.
Each of the tales within the larger story takes its origin from Arabic words and locales. Diyafa the first story is about a young man seeking the help of that eras Darkness bearer, named Idris. Diyafa is a word for desert hospitality and is a custom in practice today where wanderers lost in the desert are given food, water and shelter until they are recovered. Assahiyaa, the story about two sisters torn apart by the Witchblade means; tribal solidarity. Chermera is a location in the Sinjar mountains where a modern day tribe called the Yezidi have an ancient temple and is the scene for the Angelus story, elaborated Smith. All the stories are tied together by the machinations of the villanious Idris. Unlike the current modern day Darkness bearer, Jackie Estacado, Idris is a ruthless and cunning villain who embraces his dark gift and lives by the words Good people die.

ok lets start with the good. The fire itself and every last human on this piece is absolutely phenomenal. You have the lighting to the point where I can feel the heat and that is good.
However there are several issues I have with this piece, The main one being the horse. The biggest issue here is the horses body. The Torso overall is to short, Horses have very long torsos. As well, the horse is way to round chested. Horses have a narrow chest wall that seems deceptively large when viewed from the side, but when you view them head on, they are narrow. The horses Front legs are to skinny and short to support the body that it's on. And I have no idea where the back end of that horse is. Honestly, it looks like the girl is ridding on the horses butt. The rear legs are awkward looking and WAY to skinny. They also seem much much longer then the front legs. Because of the overall anatomy errors on the horse it really kills the power of the animal you are trying to convey.
Moving onto the background, the camel that is on that hill... the head is to big on the camel and the man riding it seems oversize.
I know you spent allot of time on this, and the beautiful color shows it, but the anatomy errors in the horse honestly make it very hard to look at.
cermat banget yang kritik... gw aja ngga ngeliat kalo proporsi kaki kudanya kekecilan kalo ngga baca komen yang kritik lol tapi ini keren asli mas Anto warnanya suka banget \(>.<)/
I collect "The Darkness", not so much for the story line, but the for artwork itself. I've always found the way the armor moves like an organism captivating, and I'm trying to emulate and push the concept of it farther in the pieces I'm putting together (slowly, s-l-o-w-l-y...).
I'm impressed with the detail in the armor and the man himself, Idris. Very well done!
